CHENNAI: Actor Trisha Krishnan is no doubt a star in the South. Her looks and acting skills grabbed many hearts here and her fan base is only getting bigger by the day with the pretty actor setting her foot in Bollywood. The actor has donned another role now — appearing with a rescued dog named Bambi in the new ad shot for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India. The puppy that wandered the streets was tormented by a mob of schoolboys before being rescued by a passing motorist.

The advertisment shot by the well-known photographer G Venket Ram, reads ‘Be an Angel: Adopt a Homeless Dog’ and encourages people to adopt a dog from an animal shelter or the streets.

In an interview with PETA, the actor recalled her own story of how she rescued her pet, Cadbury. “I found him in Hyderabad while I was shooting for a film”, said Trisha. “We were just driving past, and we saw this small little puppy who was wounded. He couldn’t walk and he was lying in the rain.”

After Cadbury received medical care, he spent every day with the actor on the set. “There was no looking back”, she said. “He came back home with me and he is like the son I never had.”

Stray dogs and cats struggle to survive on the streets and it remains the same across the country. Many of them starve to death or are injured, hit by vehicles or abused. Countless others are left to languish in animal shelters because there aren’t enough good homes for them.

The new advertisment was to let people know that they can bring joy into the life of a homeless dog or cat� and into their own lives by adopting a lovable and loving homeless animal. And, in order to take a bite out of the homeless animal crisis, PETA encourages everyone to have their animal companions sterilised...........................
